Theatre Director

I offer experienced and supportive theatre direction for stage productions across Chester, Cheshire, North Wales and the wider North West. Over many years I have directed a large number of productions in a variety of settings, including amateur theatre companies, youth theatre organisations and school productions.

My directing work has included both plays and musical theatre, and I have extensive experience guiding casts through the full rehearsal process, from early script work through to performance.

My aim as a director is always to create a clear artistic vision while fostering a positive, collaborative rehearsal environment where performers feel confident developing their work.

Directing a production involves shaping the overall vision of the show while supporting performers in developing strong, believable performances.

As a director I typically take responsibility for:

• Interpreting and shaping the dramatic vision of the production
• Leading rehearsals and guiding the rehearsal process
• Working with performers on character development and stagecraft
• Blocking and staging scenes
• Developing pacing, storytelling and dramatic clarity
• Collaborating with the wider production and creative team

Having directed many productions over the years, I am comfortable working with casts of varied experience levels and helping performers develop both confidence and stage presence.

Much of my directing experience has been in musical theatre, where the integration of acting, music and staging requires careful coordination between the director, musical director and production team.

I have also directed a wide range of straight plays, working closely with casts to explore character, text and dramatic storytelling.

My background in both music and theatre allows me to bring a well-rounded perspective to productions that involve strong collaboration between musical and dramatic elements.

A large part of my directing experience has been working within amateur theatre and youth theatre environments, where creating a supportive rehearsal atmosphere is particularly important.

My approach focuses on:
