I am a music and drama practitioner with over 25 years of experience working across theatre, music education and performing arts. My work combines teaching, directing, musical direction and performance, and I am passionate about helping people of all ages develop confidence, creativity and strong artistic skills.
Over the course of my career I have worked extensively with schools, theatre companies, youth theatre organisations and individual students, supporting performers and musicians at many different stages of their development.
A large part of my professional life has been spent working in theatre. Over the past 25+ years I have directed and musically directed many dozens of productions, working with performers ranging from young beginners to experienced actors.
Productions I have directed or musically directed include well-known musicals and plays such as Billy Elliot, Cats, Spamalot, The Wizard of Oz, Everybody’s Talking About Jamie, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Les Misérables and The Addams Family.
My work has taken place in a variety of venues including Storyhouse Chester, Chester Little Theatre, Christleton High School, The Live Rooms Chester and Clwyd Theatr Cymru in Mold, working with both amateur theatre companies and youth theatre productions.
Alongside directing, I have also performed in a wide range of productions, giving me valuable insight into the performer’s perspective as well as the director’s role.

I am the co-founder and managing partner of On The Mark Youth Theatre, which I have helped to run for the past eight years.
Through this work I regularly support young performers in developing their skills in acting, singing and stage performance, while helping them gain experience working as part of an ensemble and performing in full productions.
Working with young performers is one of the most rewarding aspects of my work, and I am passionate about helping students develop confidence, creativity and a lifelong enjoyment of the performing arts.
Alongside my theatre work, I have spent the past 20 years working as a secondary school teacher, teaching Music and Drama to students aged 11–18, including GCSE and A Level Music and Drama.
This experience has given me extensive experience of working with young people in both practical and academic performing arts education, supporting students in areas such as performance, composition, theatre studies, devising work and examination preparation.
Alongside classroom teaching, I also provide private piano tuition, supporting students from beginner level through to more advanced players preparing for graded examinations or developing their musical skills for enjoyment.
I am also an examiner for the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM), assessing both face-to-face and digital instrumental and singing examinations.
This role provides valuable insight into the expectations and standards required for graded music exams, which I bring into my teaching and coaching work.
As an experienced secondary school teacher I hold formal safeguarding training and have extensive experience working with young people.
I also hold a current Enhanced DBS certificate, and safeguarding and student well-being are always central to my work with children and young performers.
Across all areas of my work — teaching, directing and coaching — my approach is based on:
Whether working with beginners, experienced performers or students preparing for examinations and auditions, my aim is always to help people develop their skills, enjoy the process and perform with confidence.
