I offer friendly, supportive and high-quality piano lessons in Chester for students of all ages and abilities, from young beginners to adult learners. Whether you are starting from scratch, returning to the piano after a break, or preparing for graded examinations, lessons are tailored to your individual goals, interests and learning style.
Alongside private tuition, I work professionally as a music educator, performer and examiner (ABRSM), bringing a broad musical perspective and many years of teaching experience to my lessons.
My aim is to help every student develop confidence, strong musical foundations and a genuine enjoyment of playing the piano.
Lessons are structured but flexible, combining technique, musical understanding and repertoire in a way that keeps learning engaging and rewarding.
Students can expect:
Students may explore a wide range of styles including classical, musical theatre, film music and popular repertoire.
Starting piano at a young age can be a wonderful way to develop musical skills, concentration and creativity. I offer lessons for children from early primary age onwards, introducing the piano in a fun, structured and encouraging environment.
Lessons for younger students focus on:
Young students learn through a mixture of carefully chosen repertoire, creative activities and engaging exercises, helping them develop both musical understanding and confidence.
Parents are always welcome to discuss their child’s progress and how best to support practice at home.
Many adults feel nervous about starting piano later in life, but adult learners are some of the most rewarding students to teach.
Whether you have always wanted to learn the piano, are returning after many years away from the instrument, or simply want a creative outlet, lessons are designed to be supportive, flexible and enjoyable.
Adult lessons can focus on:
There is no pressure and no expectation of exams unless you would like to work towards them. It is never too late to start learning the piano.
For students who wish to work towards formal qualifications, I offer preparation for graded piano examinations, including ABRSM and Trinity College London.
Exam preparation includes:
Many students find that working towards exams provides clear goals and motivation, while also developing strong musical skills and performance confidence.
However, exams are always optional. Some students prefer to learn purely for enjoyment, and that approach is equally supported.
I hold a current Enhanced DBS certificate and have extensive experience working with children and young people through both my teaching and performing arts work.
Creating a safe, supportive and encouraging learning environment is always a priority.
Lessons are available as:
Lessons usually take place on a weekly basis, although fortnightly lessons may be possible in some cases.
Students are encouraged to practise between lessons in order to make the most of their progress.
I currently have limited availability for new students from September 2026. If you are interested in starting piano lessons, please feel free to get in touch to discuss availability and find out more.
I am always happy to have an informal conversation about your musical goals and how lessons might work for you or your child.
